Packing Paper Treat Bags

Kraft paper gift bags 004

I made these packing paper treat bags for my guests at a recent Big Shot class.  They were filled with chocolate hearts for a Valentine’s theme, but they could easily be embellished for any occasion.

A big thank you goes to Annette Bogue for sharing this  awesome idea on the recent SUDSOL Blog Tour #8.  This is a great way to recycle and reuse the long pieces of packing paper Stampin’ Up! uses in their shipping boxes.

I used my Big Shot and large Scallop Square Bigz clear die (I love this die because it is clear, enabling you to easily see the placement of paper or fabric.)   I cut a piece of the packing paper to size, folded it in half, placed the paper just inside the bottom of the die and then ran it through the Big Shot.   By placing the paper there, the die will only cut 3 sides of scallops while keeping the bottom fold intact.  I stitched up the 2 sides using my sewing machine to create the bag.  This was actually the first time I used my sewing machine to stitch paper!  I’ve been a little hesitant to try it, but it worked without issue.

Supplies Used:

Stamp Set: Sweet Cake

Ink: Basic Black, Real Red

Paper: various card stock and Designer Series Paper (some current, some retired-this is a great way to use up scraps), packing paper from Stampin’ Up! orders

Accessories: Big Shot, Scallop Square Bigz Clear Die, Full Heart and Heart to Heart punches, Crop-a-dile, various scrap pieces of ribbon, sewing machine
